On iPhone and Android, you set up your mailbox as an Exchange account. ActiveSync synchronizes email, contacts, appointments and reminders in one go.
The details you need
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Email address | Your full address |
| Server | zimbra.mydc.at |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | The password of the mailbox |
| Domain | leave empty |
The “Domain” field stays empty. If you enter anything there, the sign-in fails — the most common mistake on Android.
iPhone and iPad
- Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account → Exchange.
- Enter the email address, Next. When you are asked about Microsoft, choose Configure Manually.
- Enter the password, Next.
- As Server, enter
zimbra.mydc.at; as Username, enter the full address. Domain stays empty. - Select what is synchronized: Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders.
By default, only one week is synchronized. Change this under Settings → Mail → your account → Mail Days to Sync → No Limit.
Android
The menus differ from manufacturer to manufacturer; the steps are essentially the same.
- Settings → Accounts → Add account → Exchange (or Exchange ActiveSync).
- Enter the email address and choose Manual setup — the automatic setup leads to Microsoft services.
- Enter the password.
- As Server, enter
zimbra.mydc.at; under Domain\Username, enter the full address without a prefix and without a backslash. - Make sure the connection is secure (SSL/TLS).
You then set the sync frequency and the period in the account settings — in particular Period to sync Email.
If something doesn't work
- The sign-in fails
- Check in this order: full email address as the username, domain field empty, server exactly
zimbra.mydc.at. - The device asks for device administrator rights
- Default behavior of ActiveSync on Android and required for operation.
- Calendar or contacts are missing
- Check whether the respective sync is enabled in the account and the account is shown in the app.
